Rebecca and Luke, Engagement Session

| Thursday, September 10, 2009

Its all in full swing once again :) A full on week of shooting and photostuff! Ive got 3 portrait posts today...

Rebecca and Luke were once Bunburyites, but now live in The Big Smoke, but are heading back down here for the big day in November. They met WAAAAAAAAAAY back in Primary School! I think that's most impressive.

One of my favorite ways to get peoples real smiles and laughter is to get them to whisper sweet nothings (or something dirty!) into their beloveds ear. I don't think I want to know what he is whispering to her here!!

Im checking out the various parks and bushland nearby and kinda like this bit!

And off to the beach - where there is like a MILLION stairs down the the sand. I SO need to get back into my gym-work after a snoozy winter. Those stairs are a killer.

New Stuff!!! Photobook Albums and Personalised Cards

| Tuesday, September 8, 2009

OOOOOO its so exciting getting new things :)

Im bringing out a new range of Photobook Albums, to bridge the gap between our beautiful Proof Books and out Handmade Deluxe Matted Wedding Albums. They are modern and funky and just a little yum!

First up are the GRAND Album - 12x12" (also in 12x16 panoramic)

You can have a choice of awesome covers, like this totally swishy "metallic lace". The design is similar to our matted albums, clean, stylish, and storytelling, but also has a hint of "magazine" style thrown in for a bit of fun!

Then the 8x8"/8x12" size, perfect for your portrait sessions

And the Proof Books now come in 3 sizes - Grand, Standard and Mini!

Grand and Standard can be ordered on their own, but mini's are only available as a copy when ordering a larger size. The Grand Proof Books have huge 8x12cm images, and look super impressive.

And last, but certainly not least, we have brought out a range of Personalised Cards, Thank You's, Save The Dates, and even invitations! You can have your engagement photographs on your Wedding Invitations!

Teagan's Maternity Session

|

I'm really getting into these maternity sessions. They are so much fun and all my ladies look so amazing :) Teagan was a past bride of mine, you may remember her from the awesome red wall photo that I'm so in love with. They are due for a new addition in a months time!

Ive been playing around with a few different styles of processing for my maternity sessions. I really like this one! It's done with a gradient map colour overlay (for those who understand photoshop)

Bookings for 2010 going fast!

| Monday, September 7, 2009

2010 is booking fast!! The recent trend seem to be people are booking their Wedding Photography between 6-9 months of their wedding date, although we have had bookings up to 24 months in advance before! The popular dates always book out fast. Its definitely better to start early than find out your favorite pick has been snapped up.

Saturday January 16th has recently reopened, and there are only a few prime Saturday dates left in the first half of 2010. I can take about 4 more bookings for the first half of 2010 before I'm booked out. I only take a limited number of bookings, so I can give my couples the personal attention they deserve :)

Check out our Availability to see if YOUR date is still free!

WA Professional Photographer Awards

| Sunday, September 6, 2009

Ive spent this past week up in The Big Smoke spending time with some of my Photog mates, at the WAPPA's - The state awards for the AIPP. Its great seeing what other people are up to, being inspired by your fellow photographers work, doing the whole "how the hell do they do THAT?" and scratching your head unmercifully trying to work out why one print gets 75 and another gets 86 when you just cant see the difference :)

I entered in the Portrait and Wedding categories, and I finally cracked the glass ceiling that is a Silver Award!! These are the images I entered. The WAPPA's are judged as "portfolios" so as a group of 3 images, and then a single image from the portfolio is judged separately.

Wedding - I went for a Photojournalistic approach

This image received a Silver - score of 82! So Happy :) The judges thought it was adorable....

Portrait - I was going for a Maternity theme.

This was the individually judged print - It received 78, and I think i was a bit duped....because the judging panel was mostly male - AND THEY JUST DIDN'T GET IT LOL Im sure every pregnant lady has felt like THIS once in a while :) Its not your avarage maternity image, but I wanted to show a different side of it.

Photobucket

I think the biggest thing im proud of, besides the Silver score of course - is that im sticking true to my style of photography. It may not be the style that gets all the Gold Distinctions, but its true to me, and my work and my personality. Its very easy to get stuck into the mindset of "I will copy what 'They' are doing so everyone will like me" Its just like peer pressure in Highschool. Staying true to yourself is the only way anyone can be truly happy.
