What is Love?

| Wednesday, February 11, 2009

With Valentines Day approaching at the spate of a million knots, i stopped to wonder what love really is.

I'm surrounded by love, and couples in love, and images of people in love, every single day. I have to admit on a day to day basis I barely notice it anymore. Ive become maybe a tad cynical at the overly Hallmarked cheesiness of 'Love' ESPECIALLY with the bright red loveherated stand of cards in every shop you pass.

Is Love a massive bunch of Red Roses? is Love a gigantic Teddy Bear? Is love a very expensive dinner at a fancy restaurant, or even a diamond ring?

No. To me Love is the little things. The things that don't cost any, or very little, money. Love is a look, a touch, a phone call to say your thinking about someone. Love is getting all your old clothes and TV sets and sending them over to Victoria. Love is spending an hour in Red Cross donating Blood. Love is making your wife Shaped Toast every morning for breakfast.

This was this mornings effort..Teddy Toast!! I Love You John. XXOO

Love is the special vows you read to your loved ones at your wedding ceremony. Its ever more special when your other half hasn't heard them yet, like my next wedding Carole and Drew. not only did Drew cry, EVERYONE cried...even me. But then I do cry at almost every wedding ceremony though...but don't tell anyone I'm a big wuss alright!

Love comes from the HEART, not from the wallet, so this valentines day, perhaps think about giving what you were going to spend on your significant other to Red Cross, and simply giving your honey a HUG and a hand written note. Believe me, it will be worth far more in the long run.

Victorian Bushfire Appeal

| Monday, February 9, 2009

I have been devastated by the dreadful Bushfires raging over in Victoria. I may not know anyone personally over there affected, but the massive scale of the tragedy has touched me so fiercely. I feel incredibly helpless being here in WA, all I want to do at the moment is go and make sandwiches and give people hugs.

With a current deathtoll of 108, and predictions that will rise significantly in the next few days, plus the realisation that some families have no only lost loved ones, but EVERYTHING they own is incredibly humbling. Makes our lives seem very insignificant in the grand scheme of things.

The only two practical things we in Western Australia can do is Donate money to the Red Cross Bushfire Appeal and Blood to the Red Cross Bloodbank. I'm sure they will be needing HEAPS of both in the coming days.

visit http://www.redcross.org.au/ to make donations. keep in mind there is really heavy traffic on this site, so you may need to try a few times. We have donated, both from the Business and from John and I personally, and i really URGE everyone to dig as deep as possible to help out these families. Imagine if YOU lost everything you owned and just think how these people are feeling.

To the wonderful Fire Fighters in Victoria, and those who have come from NSW, OLD, SA and New Zealand, Thankyou for your efforts. You guys are amazing.

To the unmentionable B*****D who deliberately lit these fires....There are no words to describe the anger I feel towards you.

And to our Prime Mister Kevin Rudd, who i saw on 'Today' this morning...you are just fabulous. Poor guy was practically in tears during his interview. I really hope he takes the $42billion Stimulus Package and gives it to these poor victims. They certainly need it more than I need $950 to buy a new TV.

**Update**

Ive just come back form donating blood, and they said that while they have been inundated by offers for donations, they need more! The poor burn victims of the fires will be needing massive amounts of blood and blood byproducts, so even if it freaks you out to give blood, your small sacrifice and inconvenience is nothing compared to the poor souls who have lost everything.

I tried calling this morning to make an appointment, but the lines were busy....so i just went down there and they slotted me in. Please make sure you go :)

I met up with Kristi and Pete on the Australind foreshore yesterday. Pete, like many guys, was thinking "This is a fate worse that Death" but I'm sure he can see the outcome was worth it ;)

Kristi looked so gorgeous, and you can just see how much she adores Pete.

Lizzy and Owen, Engagement Portrait!

| Thursday, February 5, 2009

A little drive to Bridgetown on Tuesday afternoon brought me to the beautiful Ford House, the Gorgeous Lizzy and her handsome Hubby-to-Be Owen!

Liz and Owen have been subjected to my photography before...Owen being a groomsman for Kellie and Shane about 2 years ago (pre Blog...was there ever such a thing?), and Lizzy is a very good friend of Liz and Kerry, who were wed in October 2007! So they kindof knew what they were in for :D They also brought along their gorgeous Dog...who was a tad scared of this massive black THING being stuck in her face, so we didnt get many of her, but she is totally gorgeous.

Ford House is a fantastically beautiful country accommodation in Bridgetown that really has some gorgeous gardens, just perfect for a few snaps.
